How should I prep files on my pc?

Our plant can accept files created on the PC platform saved on PC disks for translation into MAC based desktop programs. QuarkXpress and Adobe PageMaker move smoothly between the PC and MAC platforms.

Photoshop documents should be saved as .TIF and if they are color documents they should also be in CMYK mode before saving.

We request that a laserwriter print-out be included with the specifications of your printing job (or if using an E-mail attachment fax us a print-out). Supply a list of fonts used and suitable substitutes if substitution is necessary. For purely text files that are not QuarkXpress or PageMaker export the files as .txt documents.

Postscript
For best results or for programs other than Quark or PageMaker, make a postscript file of your work. The beauty of a postscript (xxx.ps) file is that it is platform independent and all fonts and other graphic resources become written into the finished single file. You can expect the file size to increase using this method, but it will be worth it to preserve the document layout. Please study your software manual to learn how to "Print to Postscript" sometimes called "Print to file" or "Print to disk"
